It's more grey than just "pre-punched" versus "non-pre-punched."  The later -6
kits were partially pre-punched (i.e. skins only), but still required jigs.  At
the time that was a fairly significant advance, because locating all those
holes in the skin took a lot of time.

Building the jigs takes very little time.  But, from what builders tell me, the
current generation of kits saves a lot more time than just the time spent
building jigs and jigging parts.
